Speed Demons Fleet Feet Sports Madison & Sun PrairieSpeed work is an important part of any training routine. Speed work doesn’t just make you run faster. It makes you fitter, increases the range of movement in your joints, makes you more comfortable at all speeds, and it will ultimately help you to run harder for longer. These sessions have been carefully designed to be beneficial to those who specialize in any distance and can be utilized by many levels of runners. In addition, interval training is one of the most efficient ways to burn calories!

  • Base recommendations for SpeedPLAY: We recommend you be able to run 3 miles continuously with a weekly average of 10-15 miles/week to start SpeedPLAY training.
  • Age requirement: 18 years or older

Our SpeedPLAY Training Programs are a great way to stay race ready and mix up your weekly running miles while becoming a stronger runner. The 8-week SpeedPLAY Training Program sessions are in the spring, summer and fall and can easily compliment any of our training programs offered throughout the year (5K – full marathon). 

During SpeedPLAY you will not only be coached on how to execute and benefit from a variety of unique pace specific workouts (hills, intervals, tempo, fartleks, etc), but we will also cover topics such as dynamic warm ups, cool downs, and body maintenance products that supplement faster workouts.

SpeedPLAYis broken up into 3, 8-week sessions. Choose a session based on your personal goals and racing calendar or sign up for all 3 sessions and receive a discounted entry on  the fall program. See schedule below.

Coach Sydnie Fleet Feet Sports Madison & Sun PrairieCoach Sydnie joined the Fleet Feet team in July of 2016 after moving back to Madison from the Seattle, Washington area where she attended Pacific Lutheran University and earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She has always harbored a great love for running, and participated in four years of cross country and track at Madison Memorial High School. Since then she has continued to run on her own, while also exploring other ways to stay active and still have fun. Sydnie loves a good challenge on a rock climbing wall, a sunny afternoon paddle boarding or kayaking, and even the occasional evening stroll. Since she began her journey with Fleet Feet, Sydnie has enjoyed leading the Wednesday night fun runs and Thursday night pub runs. She can't wait to coach Winter Warrior 5k/10k program and SpeedPlay in the new year. Happy Running!

Shannon: Fleet Feet Madison

Coach Shannon Fleet Feet Sports Madison & Sun PrairieCoach Shannon grew up in rural central Michigan, where she developed a love for running on the 7th grade track team.  She ran cross country and track in high school, and then moved on to collegiate racing.  She attended Hillsdale College, a Division II program, where she specialized in the 5K and 10K. 

Upon graduating, she took her love of the sport and coached at the high school level. Still itching to race and train, Shannon helped to organize and launch a competitive post-collegiate running club called Playmakers Women's Racing Team.

Currently, Shannon enjoys running in all forms, from a 5K to a pub run with Fleet Feet to a marathon. Her favorite race was the Boston Marathon, which she was thrilled to experience in 2014. Other things she does for fun include reading, playing volleyball with her children, and traveling whenever possible.

David M Fleet Feet Sports Madison & Sun PrairieOriginally from Waukesha, WI, David grew up as a runner participating in cross country and track in high school and college. More recently his training has switched to half and full marathons. David is looking forward to his debut at the Boston Marathon in April 2018. Better known as “Shirtless Dave,” he enjoys participating in Fun Runs, Pub Runs, and coaching SpeedPlay for Fleet Feet. His favorite part about running is the friends he’s made and the conversations they have while running. To David, Fleet Feet is like a second family. When not running or coaching, David enjoys brewing beer, kayaking and spending time at his cottage in northern Wisconsin. .
