Successful milers are arguably the most versatile runners in the track and field world. With adequate training these athletes commonly obtain great race results ranging anywhere between the quarter mile on the track up to the marathon on the road. This training program gives runners of all abilities the unique opportunity to train for a one mile race. One evening per week the program meets to offer specific one mile race focused workouts that have proved dividends for some of America’s fastest middle distance runners.
Coach Matt Groose modifies his experiences training under the tutelage of former University of Wisconsin cross country and assistant track coach Jerry Schumacher and UW-Oshkosh head cross country and track and field coach John Zupanc to better suit the needs of everyday runners. Whether training for their first 5k or 15th marathon all runners of all ages are encouraged to join.
Miler In Training is not a full week program. Runners are encouraged to follow their regular training programs and use Miler In Training as their speed workout day.
Workouts will be held at Verona Area High School every Tuesday evening at 7pm beginning June 15 and ending July 25.
* Fee for The Miler In Training Program is $60 ($75 beginning April 1)
* Fee for The Mini Miler In Training Program for 6-11 year olds is $40 ($50 beginning April 1).
* Follow the links above to find more details and a registration form for each program
* The cost for the program includes six track workouts at the Verona High School, Capitol Mile race entry fee and a technical tee. The remainder will be donated to The Miler in Training/Allied Program.
