Fleet Feet Sports Training Programs

We offer training programs for everyone, from the beginner to the endurance athlete!  Fleet Feet Sports Madison is committed to enhancing and growing our local running and walking communities, and offering educational resources and training opportunities to assist participants in achieving their fitness goals. We strive to give every training participant a positive experience and to help them finish happy, healthy, educated, and uninjured.

You can choose to join us for one of our free group social fun runs, or try one of our professionally coached training programs with a guest pass

Description: A complete 12-week training program for walkers, run/walkers, and runners. Options based on goals and experience. No matter your pace, there is a place for you! Weekly program newsletters providing motivation, coaching, training tips and advice for your training. Description: Fleet Feet Sports and Orange Shoe Personal Fitness are teaming up once again for our annual Force of Orange training program! All levels of running experience are welcome! This program is tailored to getting participants to the Madison Twilight 10K, Half Marathon, and Green Bay Full Marathon. However, you are welcome to join us if you are preparing for another spring running event.

Goal Race: BMO Harris Madison Mini Marathon
Program Fee: Early Bird Special: $129 until May 16, 2016 Regular Rate: $144 (May 17 – May 30) Late Registration: $159 (May 31 and after)
Description: Join the tens of thousands of people who challenge themselves every year to the fastest growing distance race in the country – the half marathon! Even better, make it the nationally recognized Madison Mini-Marathon, ranked #14 of the best 27 half-marathons in the U.S. by Runner’s World Magazine! We welcome those who are also training for another summer half-marathon, or are working toward a fall full marathon. We recommend you be able to run 3 miles 2-3x/week prior to the start of half marathon training. This is to ensure you run healthy and stay injury free.

Description: Don't let the name scare you, SpeedPLAY is not just for “fast” runners, it is open to anyone who wants to work on becoming more efficient while challenging their current running pace. Speed work is an important part of any training routine. Speed work doesn’t just make you run faster. It makes you fitter, increases the range of movement in your joints, makes you more comfortable at all speeds, and it will ultimately help you to run harder for longer. These sessions have been carefully designed to be beneficial to those who specialize in any distance and can be utilized by many levels of runners. In addition, interval type training is one of the most efficient ways to burn calories!

Winter Warriors Challenge 2016 More Info »

Program Start: Sunday January 3, 2016
Program Schedule: Coached and supported group runs on SUNDAY mornings @ 8:30am at both Fleet Feet Sports locations (Madison & Sun Prairie)
Program Fee: Early Bird $49 (until Dec. 14, 2015), Regular Rate $59 (Dec. 15 - Dec. 28), Late Registration $69 (Dec. 29 and after)
Description: Choose a group that best fits current fitness level and focus: Walk: Goal is to be consistent with walking 3-4 times per week, get the heart rate up by power walking, or start out walking and ease into running when ready Walk/Run: Goal is to become better at running for longer durations and get the heart rate up utilizing walk/run intervals, and/or aid in training for a future goal race. You may decide to switch to run group as you progress. Run: Goal is to stay consistent with Winter Running, run for longer durations, run at higher intensities, and/or aid in training for a future goal race.

Goal Race: Capitol Mile Madison Wisconsin

Description: Youth Training Workshop for Runners (6th grade-12th grades) Fleet Feet Speed Camp is excited to bring back a challenging yet fun program to help young Madison area runners learn more about their sport, increase their efficiency, and enter the fall cross country season ready to go! We believe the key to increasing running performance and decreasing injury risk is running consistently throughout the summer months. Workouts will vary week to week and be modified to meet and challenge each runner's abilities and goals. Whether your an athlete just starting out or a veteran to the sport, each week will challenge you and help build a base for the start of your fall season. Meeting location will be Memorial High School Track. Athletes will also have the opportunity to participate in the Capitol Mile, a 1 mile race around the capitol square, in July at a reduced cost.

Program Schedule: Every Wednesday Evening Group Runs & Every Thursday Evening Pub Runs

Description: Free Wednesday Run or Walk- Every week meet at either Fleet Feet Sports Madison or Sun Prairie @6:00pm for a 3 to 5 mile group run/walk--Excellent for beginner runners. All paces welcome. Free Thursday Night Pub Run - Most weeks we start at or near a local Pub for up to 5 miles followed by food, drink and socializing. The runs will start at 6:00pm and are listed approximately one month in advance on our website and published on our social media pages. All paces are welcome.

Description: New Balance Good Form Running (GFR I) is a simple process of training that has the ultimate goal of running faster, more efficiently, and injury free. With a focus on proper mechanics, GOOD FORM RUNNING aims to help runners of all ages and abilities achieve these goals. Good Form Running is free and is beneficial to beginner runners up to endurance runners.
