Originally from Wauwatosa and a recent graduate of UW-Madison, Calvin discovered his passion for running after years of doing his best to avoid it. A soccer player from birth, he only ran to beat defenders to 50/50 balls, when the coach told the team to do sprints, or when his endurance sport-obsessed parents “asked” him if he wanted to try another half marathon. It wasn’t until his freshman year at Madison that Calvin independently decided to seriously pursue running, and later that year he finished his first marathon in Ventura, California, along with Grandma’s Marathon and The Boston Marathon in subsequent years. Calvin has a newfound love for cycling; it is half for that love and half because he does not have a car yet that he rides his bike into work every day. Calvin graduated from Madison with degrees in legal studies and environmental studies and intends to pursue law school after taking a gap year to work in an industry he’s knowledgeable in and passionate about. He enjoys working with everyone at Fleet Feet and finds it rewarding to pass on useful knowledge to other people who like doing the same things as he does. He likes working face-to-face with people, hearing about their experiences, and helping them when he can.
Chuck was born and raised in the tiny village of Martinsville, Wisconsin. Growing up with 11 siblings, his family was the second largest industry in town. He enjoyed being a sprinter for Middleton High School back in the day. Now, one of his favorite races is the 20 mile Syttende Mai Run from Madison to Stoughton in May of each spring and has completed 17 of them. He has also competed in a number of marathons including; Madison, Milwaukee Lakefront, Chicago, Boston, Grandma's, Twin Cities, San Diego & Jacksonville. He also enjoys cycling on all the great country roads we have in the Madison area. Chuck enjoys meeting new people through Fleet Feet pub runs and Fleet Feet SpeedPLAY training. He has served several years as a pacer for The Madison Mini Marathon and is a member of the Founders Club running all ten races. He thinks it's fascinating that each person has a unique story on why they run and by running with them you really get to know someone and what makes them tick.
Megan moved to Madison in the summer of 2010 looking for an outlet for her active lifestyle. Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, she maintains her loyalty as a Cornhusker football fan but still enjoys taking in Badger and Packer events. Shortly after moving to Madison and joining Fleet Feet Sports, she fell in love with not only the “runner’s high,” but racing, the challenge of pushing her mileage, and camaraderie of other runners. Having loved the one-on-one interaction with her clients as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, it became clear after coaching several of Fleet Feet’s training programs and working with customers that she had found her calling in helping others discover the same joy she experienced in not just running, but living a healthy lifestyle. A devoted country music fan, Megan completed her first marathon in Nashville, TN on her birthday and continues to have the most fun participating in destination races. When she’s not heading up our training programs she can be found at the Great Dane eating Nakoma nachos.
Matt was born and raised in McFarland, WI. Matt became more active later in life, after being coaxed into it by his wife, Amanda. He runs to honor the memory of his stillborn son, Frank, and to be a positive role model to his daughter, Ruth. While the running world may be newer to him, Matt is passionate and eager to help people on their journey towards an active lifestyle. He has participated in the No Boundaries program, and in the spring of 2013 was lucky enough to be a mentor in the group. He continues to push himself towards new distances and challenges in the active world. When not running, Matt can probably be found playing with Ruthie, taking in a Packer game, playing golf or disc golf, watching a goofy comedy movie, and definitely trying to make whomever is in his general vicinity laugh.
Julie is married with six kids. When not attending their many athletic events, she keeps sane by running and hanging out with other runners as often as she can. She became a runner after her second child was born in 2000 when she needed some adult interaction and began to sign up for races soon after. Julie has completed everything from 5Ks to marathons to her new favorite distance, the 50K Ultra. As a certified yoga instructor she also loves connecting with athletes in finding ways to use yoga as a perfect complement to their training. Her favorite thing to do at Fleet Feet is talk to customers about their fitness goals. She loves hearing their stories and finding ways to help them achieve whatever they are reaching for.
Bri grew up in Cross Plains, and developed a passion for running after she began going on runs with her mom the summer before starting 6th grade. Determined to become stronger, better, and faster as a runner, she decided to join Cross Country and Track & Field and continued both sports throughout high school. At UW-Eau Claire, she went on to run track her first two years of college, and continues to run races for fun. She graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a B.S. in Kinesiology and a Spanish minor. She is passionate about coaching and helping people accomplish their goals. She has loved having the opportunity to coach multiple programs for Fleet Feet, including the Madison Mini Marathon, Allied Running Club, No Boundaries 5K &10K programs, and new this fall, the Madison Half and Full Marathon program!
Shannon moved to the Madison area in July 2014 with her two children and husband from Michigan. She ran cross country and track at Hillsdale College in Michigan, and continues to run competitively when she can squeeze it in. After working in a running specialty store in Michigan for the last eight years, Shannon knew that she wanted to continue to work within the running/active community because of the people you get to meet and help on a regular basis. Shannon has been racing a long time, anywhere from the mile to the marathon. The Boston Marathon this year was her favorite race, citing the phenomenal spectators, awesome fellow runners and challenging course as reasons why. Shannon also coaches our SpeedPLAY training. When not at work or running, Shannon enjoys dabbling in photography, reading, and enjoying time with her family and friends.
Peter was born and raised in Madison WI where he went to high school at James Madison Memorial. He ran both cross country and track but also did a little swimming. He then went on to the University of Wisconsin-Stout where he ran 4 years of cross country and track. He has completed one Half Ironman and one Marathon, but is eager to run many more in the future. He loves the outdoors and is always up for a pickup game of ultimate Frisbee! Come on in and meet Peter where he might tell you a goofy running story if you want to hear it or not.
Erin has been with Fleet Feet Madison and Sun Prairie since May 2015. She's a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with a degree in Health Promotion and Wellness and is a Certified Wellness Practitioner. She has a huge passion for fitness and endurance events and enjoys sharing it with the Feet Feet community. Some of her favorite races include Grandma's Marathon, the Door County Triathlon, the Disney World Marathon and Ironman Wisconsin. When she's not hanging out at Fleet Feet or on a training run, you can find Erin exploring a state park, trying out a new Madison restaurant, or re-watching Parks n Rec.
Gretchen is originally from Seattle Washington and enjoys keeping active with running, cycling, trail running and competing in triathlons. In the winter months she also likes to ski. When she isn't working at Fleet Feet or out running she and her husband Troy, enjoy supporting their daughters at their athletic events and taking care of their dogs.
A.J. was born and raised in Madison, WI. He didn't start running until freshman year of college while playing baseball at MATC, and even though he didn't want to admit it, he was hooked. Several years later he entered his first race, the 20 mile Syttende Mai Run from Madison to Stoughton, 6 months after that, he finished his first marathon in Phoenix, AZ. Today, he's a big fan of runcations and the Wednesday night fun run at Fleet Feet.
Megan started out with Fleet Feet Madison over eight years ago by completing the No Boundaries training program not once, but twice. She much prefers the trails to road, having completed races from 5k to 100 miles. In her time away from running, she balances life as a yoga teacher, mom to one child and one pampered Goldendoodle . She is excited to be part of the Fleet Feet Team as a bookkeeper. Yes she really does like numbers and accounting!
Susan started her running career with Fleet Feet in 2013. She has completed everything from 5K’s to 8 half marathons. Her favorite half is the Haunted Hustle in Middleton. Susan will run her first full marathon in May 2018. Susan’s favorite time of the year to run is winter…yes…that’s right…winter! Susan is thrilled to be coaching the program that got her started in running – No Boundaries. Nothing brings a smile to Susan's face quicker than hearing and seeing the confidence, strength and pride the program's participants see in themselves!
Kaitie started running in 2013, trying to train for a half marathon by herself. She quickly learned she needed other people to keep her going...then she found Fleet Feet. After participating in a few training programs, she became an employee. Fleet Feet has a special place in her heart. Her fiancee proposed to her in front of the store after returning from a fun run. Since she started running, Kaitie has completed 8 half marathons and last year completed her first 2 marathons. Her favorite races include the Lake Monona 20k and Madison Mini. She enjoys participating in SpeedPlay. Her hopes are returning to Spain and run the marathon where she studied abroad. Kaitie works at Fleet Feet part time and enjoys leading the fun runs, pub runs and coaching training programs. Kaitie is a Spanish teacher in a local school district and coaches the middle school run club for 3rd-12th graders. Her favorite part about running is the friends and of course, PUB RUNS!
Sydnie joined the Fleet Feet team in July of 2016 after moving back to Madison from the Seattle, Washington area where she attended Pacific Lutheran University and earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She has always harbored a great love for running, and participated in four years of cross country and track at Madison Memorial High School. Since then she has continued to run on her own, while also exploring other ways to stay active and still have fun. Sydnie loves a good challenge on a rock climbing wall, a sunny afternoon paddle boarding or kayaking, and even the occasional evening stroll. Since she began her journey with Fleet Feet, Sydnie has enjoyed leading the Wednesday night fun runs and Thursday night pub runs. She can't wait to coach Winter Warrior 5k/10k program and SpeedPlay in the new year. Happy Running!
Colby is a lifelong soccer player and began running initially as a way to keep in shape for her soccer seasons. When she stopped playing competitively, she realized she didn't want to stop running! While attending UW-Milwaukee, she decided to run her first 5k and then train for her first half marathon. She loved the experience so much, she went on to run seven more half marathons, her first full marathon (Lakefront), and too many other races to keep track of! Stair climb races are a favorite of Colby's and she has done two, one at the U.S.Bank building and another at the Willis Tower (previously Sear's Tower)! Colby has experience as a certified group exercise instructor and personal trainer. She also studied kinesiology in grad school for one year, before pursuing a graduate degree in counseling instead, as a way to help people on a deeper level. Before moving to Madison, Colby worked full-time at a specialty running store in Milwaukee and is thrilled to bring that experience and her passion to Fleet Feet. She loves being able to help people find a love of running, walking, or whatever moves them! When Colby is not busy running or helping others, she loves hiking and biking, as well as searching for the best cheese curds in the state.
Lynn grew up on a beef farm in Sheboygan County and received a bachelor's degree in animal science from UW-Madison. She began running in 2008 when she signed up for her first half marathon with Team In Training. Since then she has completed a marathon, several sprint and olympic distance triathlons, a century bike ride around Lake Tahoe and a trail 50k. Prior to working at Fleet Feet she worked at The North Face for more than five years and enjoys helping people find the right gear for their next adventure.
Jake is from the small town of North Lake Wisconsin where he grew up in a blue-collar family that taught him respect, hard work, and dedication. He discovered running at a young age and has always been known as the running guy to his friends and family. In high school, he was a sprinter breaking school records and he and three other teammates for a relay became the first All Americans for track & field in their school’s history. In 2011 he discovered OCR (obstacle course races) and fell in love with all of it: the obstacles, getting muddy, the atmosphere and the OCR community of people is amazing. Now he is a competitive OCR and Trail runner, he runs multiple races around the Midwest. Along with being a run enthusiast, he has been a personal trainer and nutrition specialist since 2010. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, fishing, camping, and just wants to live life to the fullest
Kaylee is from DeForest, WI. She was introduced to Fleet Feet when Jessica told her family about the fun runs and has been running with the team since December 2016. She LOVES fun runs! Kaylee started working at Fleet Feet during the spring of 2018. She goes to University of Wisconsin- Madison and runs on the Track Club. However, she recently started racing longer distances such as half marathons. Her favorite race for short and long distance is the Waunafest Run.
Kally is from Sun Prairie, WI. She teaches elementary school as well as working at Fleet Feet. She was introduced to Fleet Feet when the Sun Prairie store opened. Immediately she joined the winter Destination Training group and has continuously trained with Fleet Feet since. Kally began running as a way to reduce stress 8 years ago; she did not consider herself a runner but has since completed several marathons, one 50K, and one 50 mile race. Kally’s favorite short distance race is the Berbee Derby and her favorite long distance race is the Fall 50 miler in Door County.
